Autralian Mookaite Jasper - Mother Nature's Work of Art
Mookaite
Large, Unusual, Artistic Australian Mookaite Jasper!
Nineteen (19) inches and 16 Trapezoid-shaped, differently colored, Mookaite stones, with center focal stones, measuring 1.5-inches wide by 2-inches long, graduate to smaller stones near the clasp, measuring 1-inch by 1-inch. This collar -style necklace includes enamel, lavender and white spacer beads, inlaid with a gold design that separate the gemstones. The piece is finished with a large, gold-tone, Byzantine-style, toggle clasp.
In many years of working with real gemstones, have I seen never seen gemstones so unique and beautiful that each stone looks like a piece of art. While the base color is yellow, gold or beige, no two stones are alike in color and design. There are yellow/pink, beige with stripes and markings that resemble a flower to red, orange and other stones with a variety of colors. I don’t think anyone could look at this piece without carefully examining each exotic stone. Lavender and white spacer beads, inlaid with a gold design, separate the Mokaite gemstones. The piece is finished with a large, gold-tone, Byzantine-style, toggle clasp.
Mookaite is a silica-rich porcelanite (a natural ceramic) that is mined around Mooka Creek in the Kennedy Ranges in Australia. The name comes from the Aboriginal word "mooka" that translates to "running waters".
A new discovery of pink Mookaite was found in 2011 at the Binthalya prospect. Mookaite Jasper is found only in the Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia in outcroppings near Mooka Creek, the area for which it is named. The Aboriginal term “Mooka” means “running waters” and refers to the numerous springs that feed into this area. Mookaite was once a form of sea-life. Its skeletal remains of radiolaria, microscopic protozoa with a hard silica shell, were deposited over millennia as sediment in shallow areas of sea beds. The best type of sea life to compare it to is Ammonite. Ammonite.
Ammonites are a distinctive class of extinct invertebrates within the Phylum Mollusca. These spectacular looking marine animals thrived in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic Eras, which equates to approximately 408 to 65 million years ago. I have three Ammonite Shells with Amethyst, Black Onyx and Cat’s Eye Stones attached to the bail of the pendant. I will be adding those to my own website, jewelrybygloria.com in the next few weeks.
The Healing Benefits of Mookaite:
As described on the website, Crystal Vaults, Mookaite is an Australian Jasper of bold, earthy beauty with a fiery fusion of red and yellow energies. It carries an invigorating frequency of strength and vitality and increases Life Force within the physical body. An Aboriginal Mother Earth stone, it is gaining in popularity throughout the world for its healing capacity, and for empowering one to feel and connect with the electromagnetic energy currents of the Earth. It enables one to utilize these positive energies to increase one’s will and focus one’s personal power. Mookaite promotes an ageless spirit willing to accept change and seek new experiences and awakens one’s natural instincts in knowing the right direction to take.
